James Cleverton - baritone



A brief biography:

British baritone James Cleverton received his training at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the International Opera Studio in Zurich.

In April 2009, James made his debut at English National Opera to critical acclaim, singing the role of Oppenheimer in Penny Woolcock's joint production with the Met of Doctor Atomic by John Adams.

The following year he performed the title role in Benhamin Schweitzer's Jakob von Gunten at the Stadttheater St Gallen and made his Salzburger Festspiel debut in Lulu, also covering the title role of the world premiere of Dionysus by Wolfgang Rihm.

This season, James made his Royal Opera House, Covent Garden debut as Gregorio in Romeo et Juliette and covered the role of Stern in Mark Anthony Turnage's world premiere of Anna Nicole.  He has also performed the title role of Don Giavanni and Danilo The Merry Widow in the National Concert Hall Dublin with Lyric Opera Ireland.
