Sara Gourlay - mezzo-soprano
Sara lives in East Sussex with her husband and three children. She has performed as a soloist for many choral societies including Sussex Chorus, East Sussex Bach Choir, Eastbourne Choral Society, Burgess Hill Choral Society, All Saints Musicians in Lewes, Fayrfax Singers, Worth Choral Society, Fletching Singers and Ardingly College Choral Society. Her recent engagements include the Duruflé Requiem for The Sussex Phil Chamber choir, Opera scenes at Longborough Opera House, recitals with pianist Richard Shaw at Blackheath Halls, Southwark Cathedral, St. Martin’s church within Ludgate and St.Anne’s church Lewes, an Evening of Chamber Music for Neil Jenkins and the Sussex Chorus singing Handel’s Dixit Dominus under Stephen Cleobury, and an Evening of Easter music for the Seaford choral society. At the 2008 Ardingly International Music School, Sara sang as a soloist in the Beethoven Mass in C (conducted by Brian Kay) and sang Chausson and Brahms in a public masterclass given by the distinguished mezzo soprano Sarah Walker. She was also invited to sing Menotti’s ‘Lullaby’ from The Consul at the ‘Tutor’s Choice’ concert. She was also cast as Filipyevna in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, singing in Russian. Sara is currently studying as a post graduate at Trinity College of Music, London where castings include Madame Larina in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Mercedes in Bizet’s Carmen and Pastore 1 in Monteverdi’s l’Orfeo.
