The Sinfonia da Chiesa was formed in May 2002 by Stephen Hope. The orchestra comprises of leading professionals and semi-professional players alike who all share an interest in raising money for charity as part of their artistic life, primarily for the Hospice movement. An initial series of concerts entitled 'Music for a Summer's Afternoon' realised a substantial sum for hospices in the South of England. In June 2004 they gave a concert in Staplehurst, raising over £500 for the local Leonard Cheshire Home.
The Sinfonia also performs as a 'working' orchestra in its own right, and as an accompanist to choral societies. For enquiries or bookings please contact Stephen Hope.
The Sinfonia da Chiesa is the official accompanying orchestra to both the Sussex and Essex Festival Choirs as well as the choral societies under the direction of Stephen Hope.
