Sarah Tynan - sopranoSarah Tynan was born in London and studied at the Royal Northern College ofMusic and the Royal Academy of Music (with Penelope Mackay). At the RAM, shewas awarded the Queen's Commendation for Excellence.
Since joining ENO, her roles have included Tytania A Midsummer Night'sDream, Papagena Magic Flute, Woodbird Siegfried, IphisJephtha, Atalanta Xerxes, Sister Constance The Carmelites
Opera appearances at the RAM include the title role in The Cunning LittleVixen conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, Zerlina Don Giovanniconducted by Sir Colin Davis, Drusilla L'incoronazione di Poppea andFeu/Rossignol L'Enfant et les sortilèges .
Sarah Tynan sings frequently in concerts including performances of the mainoratorio repertory throughout Britain and Europe. Past engagements includeEleanora in Salieri's Prima la musica and Mlle Silberklang in Mozart'sDer Schauspieldirektor with the City of London Sinfonia / RichardHickox for the Mostly Mozart Festival at the Barbican, the Mozart Requiemconducted by Sir Roger Norrington at the Spitalfields Festival, Mahler SymphonyNo.2 with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jaap van Zweden,Messiah with the Halle Orchestra and a tour of China with the LPO. She also sangBarbarina in the Chandos Opera in English recording of The Marriage ofFigaro. Recent concerts include Mozart's C minor mass with Richard Hickoxand the CLS, and a programme of rare Mozart arias with the Academy of AncientMusic and Paul Daniel. Sarah has also recorded the Dew Fairy Hansel andGretel with Sir Charles Mackerras for Chandos.
Current and future engagements include, Susanna Marriage of Figaro,Marsinah Kismet and Sophie, Der Rosenkavalier for EnglishNational Opera; Megan in James MacMillan's new opera The Sacrifice forWelsh National Opera.
