Silver Song Club

Sussex Chorus provides volunteers to help at the Silver Song Club that takes place once a month at Age UK Centre in Fairfield Road, Burgess Hill.  The Sussex Silver Song Clubs have recently been reorganised and are now called Sussex Silver Activities Clubs.

Our facilitator is Lou Beckerman and she leads the sessions that involve singing together with the use of percussion instruments and chime bars. Lou plays a guitar and everyone who attends is encouraged to sing and this frequently involves breathing exercises too. This is a most enjoyable session and Margaret Rea organises the volunteers from the choir who go along to help. Sylvia Fowler, Beth Harper, Angela Holroyd, Sheila Mason, Sue O’Reilly, Rosslyn Stenning and Christine Wilson are all regular helpers. A payment has been paid to Sussex Chorus for the involvement with this very useful activity.

In September 2009 most of the people who attend the Silver Song Club  took part in a day organised at the Martlets Hall in Burgess Hill for older people and this photograph  shows the singers on the stage entertaining members of the public who attended.
